Tournament Lead

Paid, casual · Weekends · Bairnsdale hub · Build it your way

Big tournaments, proper brackets, a crowd in the room and something on the line - the kind of thing regional towns rarely get. We want that here in Bairnsdale, not three hours away, and we're looking for the person to build it.

Young gamers in ESports Collective jerseys celebrating a win at a weekend tournament in Bairnsdale, East Gippsland
About the role

A room worth using

Through the week our space is busy with programs for our neurodivergent community. Come the weekend, it's a full gaming venue sitting quiet - which feels like a waste of something the whole town could be using. Weekend tournaments are the fix. We just need someone to build them.

And the format is yours. Nothing is locked in yet - the games, the brackets, how a day actually feels on the ground, that's all yours to work out. We're after your ideas, not just your weekends. This can be one person or a small crew, with real room to grow it.

The role

What you'll do, and who we're looking for

What you'll do

  • Plan and run weekend gaming tournaments at our Bairnsdale hub
  • Shape the format from scratch - the games, the brackets, how a day feels on the ground
  • Build events for different crowds: kids, teens, families and adults
  • Work out what fits who, so a ten year old and a thirty year old both get their night
  • Build a community around the games, and keep people coming back

Who we're after

  • You know the games, and know how to build a community around them
  • Social, a good communicator, comfortable in front of a room
  • Someone who wants to lead events, guided by the ethos we already work to
  • Like minded about a community led space, not just filling a weekend
  • Reliable across the weekend - experience running events is a bonus, not essential
Before you apply

The essentials

  • Type: Casual.
  • When: Weekends (Fridays and Saturdays), running the tournaments.
  • Where: Our Bairnsdale hub.
  • Pay: A casual hourly rate, plus attendance-based bonuses - the bigger the night you build, the more you earn.
  • Experience: Welcome, but not essential - a feel for the scene matters most.
