Game Host
For NDIS participants · Paid supported employment · Monday to Thursday, 3pm to 6pm
You turn up, you play. Game Host is a relaxed role at ESports Collective, focused on enjoying games with the people in the room.
When someone new walks in and isn't sure where to start, you show them how a game works and play a round with them. There's no pressure to run an event or fill a night, and someone is on shift with you the whole time.
Just play
Some people want to build a league or run a tournament. This job is for people who would rather just play. You're part of the room, not out the front of it.
There's nothing to organise. No brackets, no sign-up sheets, no numbers to hit. You play with whoever is around, and you help people get into a game when they need it.
It might be showing someone the controls, explaining the rules of a card game, or making up the numbers so a match can start. You go at your own pace, and you play the games you already know and enjoy.
This is still a job, not just a chance to play. Playing is part of it where it makes sense, but the people in the room come first. You do need to be flexible. If someone gets stuck, you put your game down and go and help. A lot of the job is showing young people what good sportsmanship looks like: winning well, losing well and keeping it friendly.
We already have a Game Host for Minecraft, where one worker is on with four young players and the group takes on a new challenge together each week. This role is to add other games into our After School Programs.
The skills you build here carry into other jobs: turning up on time, talking with new people, explaining things clearly and being part of a team.
This role is delivered through our Supported Work Program. Your wages are paid by the business. Your support on shift is funded through your NDIS plan. They're two separate things.
