Magic: The Gathering in Bairnsdale
Free tabletop Mondays, 3pm till late
Every Monday from 3pm till late, our Macleod Street hub opens its tables to Magic: The Gathering players and anyone else who loves a tabletop game. There's no cost to attend - just come along, pull up a chair and play.
A strategy card game played face to face
Magic: The Gathering is a trading card game where each player builds a deck and takes on their opponents across the table. You play lands to power your spells, summon creatures and cast spells to outsmart the other players, with the aim of bringing their life total down to zero. Every deck plays differently, so no two games are ever quite the same.
Our Monday session is about bringing like-minded people together. We're providing the venue - a proper space with room to spread out your cards, meet other players and get a game going. At this stage we aren't running the games ourselves; the tables belong to the community, and the players who come along are happy to help new people learn if you're keen.
Tables are open every Monday from 3pm till late at ESports Collective on Macleod Street, Bairnsdale. There's no cost to attend - bring your deck, or come along and learn.
All experience levels welcome - from never-shuffled-a-deck to players with a binder full of rares.

Into other tabletop games? No problem!
This session isn't limited to Magic. We have the room, so bring whatever you love to play.
Whether you've been playing for years or you're just learning your first deck, bring your cards and find a game.
We already have people keen to play Yu-Gi-Oh! and other card and board games. Bring yours along and find someone to play with.
Want to get a Dungeons & Dragons group going? That would be great - we have the space for it. Looking for a table that's already running? See our weekly D&D tables.
Can I use the gaming PCs on Monday?
Yes. Gaming PCs can be booked from 3pm to 8pm on Mondays, but they aren't part of the free tabletop night. A PC is $15 an hour or $22 for two hours - the same as casual gaming - and you can book your machine ahead.
Can I get support to attend?
Yes. Tabletop Mondays is free for everyone. If you're an NDIS participant and would like support to attend, a support worker can come along with you through Gippsland Care Collective. Your NDIS funding covers that support - the person alongside you, working towards your goals - while the table is shared with everyone else in the room.
If you're a participant, family member or support coordinator, get in touch and we'll talk through arranging support for Monday nights.
Who will run tabletop Mondays?
Our goal is for this session to be run by our Supported Work Program. That means real work for the people in the program, built around a community that's already coming through the door each week.
A night built by the community, and one day run by our Supported Work team.

Can I bring a client along as an external support worker?
Yes. Where supports are already in place, we don't see value in switching them up, so support workers from other providers are welcome to bring clients along. We do expect support workers to be involved in the games. If an external support worker doesn't take part and add value for the whole community, we'll ask that they don't attend. Not every support worker wears a uniform, so people in the room can't always tell who is supporting who - which means how any support worker shows up reflects on our own team and our business.
Where is it held?
At our purpose-built gaming hub at 58 Macleod Street, Bairnsdale VIC 3875, in the heart of East Gippsland.
